Game Changing Home Improvements
Posted by 1 year ago.

I came across an article on Pinterest and thought it offered a great snapshot of the effects home improvements may have on your overall value of your home.

There was a survey completed by 27 interior designers, 18 real estate agents and 113 potential home buyers. Based on the insight the participants provided, a list of the most impactful home renovations that increased the value of a home was made. These home improvements are shown to drive home buyers to pay an average of 16% more than the average price. Below is the list of the top three improvements:

1. Updated kitchen. This can result in a 16.6% premium, and it was ranked amongst the top 3 home improvements by 67% of the realtors and 48% of the interior designers surveyed. (A 16.6% premium on a $300,000 home is $49,800!)

2.  Quality of bathrooms. This can result in a 13.2% premium, and it was ranked amongst the top 3 home improvements by 56% of the realtors and 48% of the interior designers surveyed. (A 13.2% premium on a $300,000 home is $39,600!)

3.  Improved flooring. This can result in a 16.8% premium, and it was ranked amongst the top 3 home improvements by 39% of the realtors and 32% of the interior designers surveyed. (A 16.8% premium on a $300,000 home is $50,400!)

Keep in mind that the cost of these improvements must be deducted from the premiums to get the real monetary benefit. It also really does depend on the location of your home, and sometimes the renovations may not yield a benefit due to the costs associated with them. It is always in your best interest to consult your realtor, to ensure the choices you make are the right ones to help increase the value of your home. These examples are just few of many things that you can do!
